This is an exciting opportunity for Ethics and Compliance Directors, Latin America, and Corporate Counsel #IN557 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Handle wide-range of complex legal matters and projects across businesses, and functions within Latin America and US.
  • Negotiate legal matters for cross-border commercial agreements.
  • Provide support in management of a relationship with a business unit, business segment, region, or function in US and Latin America.
  • Responsible for Legal, Ethics, and Compliance initiatives and projects.
  • Support management of outside counsel relationships.
  • Partner with clients to identify and design needed improvements.
  • Provide legal and practical advice within the appropriate business context.
  • Understand and manage client expectations utilizing Voice of Customer (VOC).
  • Assist in development of legal strategies for business utilizing knowledge of the investigation and enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), UK Bribery Act, Brazilian Clean Companies’ Act and related enforcement training.
  • Influence or contribute to overall objectives and goals of organization.
  • Establish and maintain the Scope, Schedule and Resources for projects including the phases of Planning, Implementation and Close-Out.
  • Develop ethics and compliance strategies (including adherence to ethics and compliance principles and values) as well as policies and procedures that support the Code of Business Conduct to reduce ethical and reputational risks to organization.
  • Direct major ethics and compliance initiatives including the compliance improvements with the businesses and functions.
  • Partner with global teams to strengthen the compliance community across countries and business units.
  • Apply strategic frameworks to analyze problems and develop solutions for initiatives to increase compliance throughout the organization.
  • Drive continues improvement for the function to drive consistency and sustainability and champion change.
  • Recruit, select, develop, manage, motivate, coach, and mentor managers and provide guidance and direction on problems and issues.
  • Apply experience with Global Perspective to understand company’s role in global markets.
  • Seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives of various cultures and countries within Latin America that are relevant to company.
  • Communicate complex compliance topics clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences through both written and oral communication utilizing Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish.
  • 25% travel required.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish
  • Negotiate cross-border commercial agreements
  • Legal, Ethics, and Compliance Initiatives
  • Code of Business Conduct (including adherence to ethics and compliance principles and values) as well as policies and procedures
  • Initiatives to increase compliance throughout the organization
  • Brazilian Clean Companies’ Act and related enforcement training

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Positions require a JD or Master’s of Law degree in Corporate, Commercial, or Business or related field and five years of experience as In-House or Assistant General Counsel practicing law in the area of corporate, commercial, or business transactions in Latin America. Admission to Indiana state bar or capable of securing a business counsel license, in accordance with the relevant Indiana Supreme Court regulation.

JOB SITE: Indianapolis, Indiana

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week [8:00 am to 5:00 pm]

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
